Annual leave

A full-time worker's annual leave obligation is 22 days. Workers who are parents are eligible for an extra leave day per year for 14 years from birth.

Maternity Leave

Females employees are allowed nine-month maternity leave and can receive four-week pay pre-birth, and a five-week paid leave. A mother is eligible for an extension of the four weeks in the event of multiple births.

Paternity Leave

There are no mandatory paternity leave guidelines in Angola.

Sick Leave

Employees are eligible for infinite sick leave but for legibility, an employee must present with the healthcare provider's certificate. Middle-level and top-level enterprises need to compensate the medical leave at:

  • First two months - 100% of pay salary.
  • Three-12 months - 50% of pay.

Termination process

A company may terminate an agreement without valid reasons, but the worker is eligible for mandatory compensation under the law. Settlement is not allowed if an employee is involved in criminal activities or misconduct. 

There are several parties protected against termination:

  • Union representatives
  • Females employees on maternity leave.

  • War veterans.
  • Under-aged children.

Notice Period
