13th Paygrade
The 13th month's pay is the same as the basic wage, thus it does not include any allowances, service charges, or other benefits.
The resident individual tax rates vary depending on annual income as follows;
Seychelles personal income tax rate is 0% to 30% depending on a person’s income.
The income tax is paid through the Pay As You Earn (PAYE) system computed using the personal income tax rates.
Parental Leave
Every female worker is entitled to 16 weeks of fully paid maternity, four weeks before the expected date of birth and at least 12 weeks after birth. The employees are also entitled to 4 weeks of unpaid leave that might be taken either before or after birth. A three-month notice must be given to employers of the expected due date. Male employees can have at least 10 days if they prove and acknowledge paternity. This leave must be within four months of the birth. A notice eight weeks before birth with the specific leave dates two weeks in advance. Seychelles’ social security scheme pays maternity benefits. The difference between social security and maternity benefits and the employee’s full salary is paid by the employer.
The employer can terminate an employment contract with notice for disciplinary procedures. The employee must be informed in writing and allowed to respond. Disciplinary action can include termination without notice although a written copy must be offered to the employee’s union representatives.
