The minimum wage in Mauritania is 30,000 MUR per month.
Employers in Mauritania are required to withhold specific amounts from each pay cycle's payroll. Employee pay is subject to income tax and social security contributions (for health, disability, and unemployment insurance, and pension schemes). Financial penalties may be imposed if compliance standards are not followed.
The provision of online pay slips to employees is not authorized in Mauritania.
To file taxes and/or social security on behalf of a client, the payroll provider does not require any special licensing. Payroll records must be preserved for a period of at least ten years.
Statutory Deductions
All-female employees in Mauritania are granted 14 weeks of maternity leave that is fully paid for. Eight weeks must be covered after childbirth. Also, mothers are given an additional day's leave per year for every child below 14 years. On the other hand, there is no statutory provision for paternity leave.
In the course of termination, the severance pay in Mauritania is decided by individual agreements or collective agreements.
